WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS Supplying sustainable water in quality and quantity is a key factor and a prerequisite for the development and well-being of communities, municipalities, and industries. Water supply projects typically consist of storage, water pumping and distribution nets such as conduits and pipes, to best conserve the water sources. BJ-IS employs modern network analysis methods and software tools to design cost-effective and optimized water supply projects.
WATER AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS In its many years of activity BJ-IS has specialized in the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, and has acquired wide-ranging and extensive experience in these fields of expertise. Dozens of treatment plants has been designed by BJIS in Israel and world-wide. Our treatment projects design is comprehensive and varied ranging from simple earth lagoons, sophisticated earth lagoons, mechanical treatment of water and wastewater, biological treatment plants, nutrient removal plants, filtration, tertiary treatment of effluent, fixed-bed technology, combined suspended and fixed-bed technology, MBR, chemical treatment of water and wastewater, sludge treatment technologies and more. BJ-IS experts employ sophisticated design tools and partake in conventions, courses and conferences in Israel and world-wide. BJ-IS has earned a local and world-wide recognition as a leading design firm of water and wastewater plants.
SLUDGE TREATMENT Every wastewater treatment plant produces sludge requiring withdrawal, digestion, volume reduction and disposal. Due to its complexity, sludge treatment presents the greatest challenge to the designers and operators of waste water treatment plants. Over its many years of activity BJ-IS has designed many sludge treatment facilities, in a wide range of technologies, from simple earth lagoons sludge disposal to state of the art sludge thickening, pasteurization, digestion and dewatering. Our designs take advantage of innovative methods for dewatering sludge conveyance and storage.
WASTEWATER CONVEYING AND PUMPING Reliable wastewater systems are essential to protect drinking water sources and public health. Wastewater sewerage systems typically consist of a sewage network from street pipes to the main interceptor and pumping stations. BJ-IS has amassed outstanding experience in the design of sewerage systems including large diameter interceptors (up to 2.5 m), pipe jacking, and sewage pumping stations of all sizes and more.
STORM WATER AND DRAINAGE SYSTEMS The storm water system is a key factor in the environmental development of urban and rural areas. The system consists of conduits, drains, and outfalls to the main waterways. The drainage system accounts for water sensitive urban planning (WSUP) and water sensitive urban design (WSUD). BJ-IS uses modern network analysis methods and software tools to design cost-effective and optimized storm water projects.
HYDRO-ELECTRIC AND BIO-GAS UTILISATION Hydro-Electric and Bio-Gas power sources take advantage of natural resources and by-products to contribute a valuable source of energy, that is environmentally friendly. In its many years of activity BJ-IS has designed several co-generation projects utilizing bio-gas, and producing heat and electricity. The electrical output of these projects varies between 0.5 MW to 9 MW. BJ-IS designs Hydro-Electric plants of several configurations , including the "one way" configuration in which water is conveyed directly from the river to the turbines and in the "pumped storage" configuration in which the same water is used to produce electricity during peak-demand time, and is then pumped back to a higher reservoir during low-demand time.
